Creative folding

So I was still nursing my sinus headache that I woke up with this morning, so I told the kids to clean up the living room and game room. It needed to be done. Well, this would include folding all the laundry I’ve done but haven’t folded. I am not a fan of folding the laundry…but I digress…

So they are fighting over whether or not the underwear needs to be folded. *laugh* My goodness. According to my niece, Victoria, it really does make a difference on if the underwear is folded or not. I am totally not buying the nonsense at all. Why? Because I know exactly how much fabric is in her underwear and frankly there isn’t enough underwear to get crinkly let alone bumpy. But, again I digress…

And I had to specify that just because Kyle has out grown it does not mean that it automatically goes to Darin. I mean there is a size difference between the two. Not that I mind Darin taking Kyle’s out grown clothes as that is the natural progression of things in this family, but he wears a size 7 or 8 and Kyle wears a size 14 or 16. So a size 10 or 12 does not need to go into Darin’s pile at all. Period. Of course this because another area of heated discussion. So much for my headache getting any better.

To make a long story shorter, there were probably 4-5 baskets of laundry to be folded. Some clothes, some towels and wash clothes. Nothing major. It took the 6 kids over an hour to fold the laundry. Why? Because they were actually disagreeing on who was folding the laundry correctly. Now please keep in mind that I am picky when it comes to clothes folding. They have to be folded just so. That was then, this is now. I have overcome this to some degree. I mean, if they’ll fold and put away their own clothes I should really care less about how they are folded so much as they are folded. Right? That’s what I thought. I just found this rather humorous that a 12 year old, an 11 year old, a 9 year old, and an 8 year old were arguing over which way was the correct way to fold the laundry.

Anyway, Andrew comes in with a twin sized fitted bed sheet, “what do I do with this?” It was unfolded so my response was, “fold it.” Now, being a typical 12 year old boy, he carried on about how he didn’t know how. Look, I’ll buy that a little bit, but they were folding their own laundry a fitted bed sheet shouldn’t be too difficult. I ended the rant about not being able to fold a fitted bed sheet by telling him, “just fold it the best you can, it doesn’t have to be perfect like Victoria’s folded underwear.” Of course Andrew busts out laughing to this statement. I am not so sure what was funny about it. I mean, I had listened to them arguing about how the underwear needed to be folded and I was holding neutral on that.

So I wander off to do something else and when I come back some few minutes later, I find that same fitted bed sheet folded…laying on my bed…I just had to smile. He was definitely creative. Perhaps it will start a new trend. I’ve never seen a fitted bed sheet that has looked so nice folded to be real honest with you. What, you ask? What did he do? Well, he folded that navy blue twin sized fitted bed sheet like a flag. Quite ingenious if you ask me. To think that he didn’t know how to fold a fitted sheet. So there you have it…if it doubt, fold it like a flag.

Yes, I will be sticking my flag…urrrrr…sheet into the linen closet as it is.
