We call this one big foot

When you have children, you experience growing pains. Or is that the other way around? When you are children, you experience growing pains? I am not entirely sure how it goes, but I do know that as a parent you get to experience the growing pains right along with your children. When they hurt you get to hear all about it. When they grow out of their clothes and shoes, you get to hear about that too.
I stand by my saying, “When you have children, you experience growing pains.” It really is only a matter of time.
Lance is experiencing those growing pains right now. He is just growing. It is probably about normal. He has been a slower grower than his brothers. Each of the boys has had a radically different growth pattern to be honest with you. Lance has only recently really been putting on the inches. He just turned 10 years old.
We did not buy Lance new shoes at the start of the school year because he did not need them – really. His shoes were still in decent condition. They were worn but they were not falling apart or anything like that, they were just a year old. Alas, two weeks ago he started complaining about how his shoes were tight. It started with his church shoes. Then it was his tennis shoes.
I figured I had a couple more weeks to go get him a pair of shoes…

That was until I had to take him shopping because he could not get his shoes on his feet anymore. They hurt too badly.

I have officially dubbed this child “big foot.” At least he looks like a happy “big foot.”

Today I bought Lance his first pair of adult sized shoes. He is officially wearing a men’s shoe. When did this happen? He is 10 years old!!!

Fortunately, we were able to find a pair of tennis shoes to fit his foot – decently. Often when you have a younger child that is stepping up into the adult shoe you have all sorts of fitting nightmares and finding one that actually fits is very hard.

Unfortunately, we were unable to find a dress shoe that actually fits his foot. He will be wearing tennis shoes to church until we can find something that does fit. It is what it is.

At least I do not have to listen to him whine about how his feet hurt when he puts his shoes on.
