Here are the last of the pictures of the house.
They say that there is something that sells the house. There is. For me, 14 years ago, it was the laundry room. It is HUGE! Now what this picture shows does not even show just how much you can get in here, but it shows how much room there is in the room.
Normally we have the washer and dryer, a large upright freezer, and a second fridge side by side. They fit. If you get them all shimmied in side by side against the far wall. It is a tight fit and you cannot open the fridge door to its full open, but you can get it almost all the way open. It worked for us for 11 years when we purchased the upright freezer and put it in there with the other appliances.
Of course for showing the house, we have make it a bit more spacious…
The laundry room has a little alcove type cut out in it. They redesigned the room with later models of the house, but the first few houses they built had this funky cut out in the room. It really was just a pain in the backside if you ask me. A complete waste of space.
For showing the house, we decided it was the perfect place to put either the fridge or the freezer. We felt the fridge was the more useful of the appliances to have in the house. The freezer got demoted to the garage for the time being.
This is not a great picture, but it is really hard to get a good picture of this room because of how small it is. This is the half bathroom. Here you can see the “new” light fixture – the one that I spray painted to make new. That is my big, beautiful mirror that I found for a small, pretty price at Kirkland’s back before Christmas. We finally got it mounted in place of the cheap octagonal contractor grade mirror that came with the house. It really gave the wall a different look. That towel ring is the one we purchased from Harney Hardware and it is mounted into a stud so it will take some wear and tear unlike the other one that was showing the wear and tear of 14 years of boys’ using it.
This is not a great picture because I could not get a great angle on the camera, but it is what it is. We mounted the shelf above the toilet. Again, there was never anything to point toilet paper on/in. I had a box with a lid that my sister, Ann, made me that held 4 toilet paper rolls stacked on top of each other, but that was all. The garbage can is one that I up-cycled. It was a rusty stainless steel one that I sanded down and then spray painted the oiled bronze to match the other fixtures.
The shelf was originally white like the one in the master bathroom’s toilet closet. I used the same Rust-olem that I used to spray paint the trash can and the light fixture. I used it to also do the toilet handle originally. I did a test handle – the one that was already on the toilet. It worked. It was corroded on the bottom, however, so it was never intended to stay on the toilet. I bought a brand new handle and did that handle. It did not work. The handle that is on their now is one that was purchased already oiled bronze.

The living room from the entry hallway of the house. You can better see the cast cement fireplace and the arches in the wall.
The breakfast nook. We use this as our primary dining room 100% of the time since we have the formal dining room set up for another purpose. We raised the light above the table and it made a huge difference in the room.
I am not a huge table cloth user, but this table cloth called to me at Walmart.

Here you can see the cabinets that we added under the “bar” between the kitchen and the living room. The original design had a bar there. We had the cabinets added. It was the best decision we made. You will notice that we have the bar behind the kitchen sink. It is useless. It is high and it is not very deep. We should have added the cabinets there as well. I ended up adding free standing cabinets under there (which have been removed for showing the house).
