There they were

So today I wandered out to Hobby Lobby. I went to look at their cake pan selection. I have a little boy’s birthday coming up and I wanted to see what they had to work with. Lance had declared that he wants an “Aliens vs Monsters” birthday. So I was on the quest to see if I could find anything. If not, I would have to improvise or order something online. It appears I’ll be improvising…I didn’t find anything and haven’t found much online, just party supplies. No need to order those as I can get those at the local Wal-mart as the time gets closer.

Of course I was kid-less so I was going to enjoy my time at Hobby Lobby. I do not go very often these days. I did enjoy my time there. Mostly I enjoyed the quiet. *blush*

I perused the yarn aisles. *grin* I didn’t find a whole lot that I would rush out and buy, but I wasn’t looking to buy yarn. I was just looking to see what they had and what weights they had available and have a general idea in my head how much they cost. I will be watching sales. I need to find more time before I take on another project like what I’ve got in my mind though.

I checked all the flannel they had available. I wasn’t looking for anything specific, I was just looking to see what they had. I have ideas going in my head. That’s as far as I’ll go with that one right now. I didn’t find much in the way of “prints” but they had ample solids to choose from. I will watch and see what they have in the next few weeks.

I was looking at the craft woods…I wanted to make belt racks for the nieces and nephew as I have their new belts for them (as well as their certificates). He didn’t have them ready when they took their tests. I will do some measuring and thinking on that, but I got some ideas. Since I don’t see them progressing through the belts very quickly with only classes during the summer, I need something that will expand but not look incomplete in the meantime. I got some ideas, but we’ll wait for now on a sale on those items.

While I was looking for the metal hooks for the above project, I turned down an aisle and low and behold there was something that would just not be walked by. I am good at walking by things that I don’t need right then and there for whatever project…I can wait and come back. I need excuses to come browse the craft store from time to time anyway. But…

There they were…

My mom has had these mirrors on her Christmas trees for years and years. I love them. I have wanted some of my own, but I’ve never been able to find the right size. I’ve always found the big ones and the little ones, but nothing in between. There they were hanging there…taunting me…yelling at me…pleading with me to buy them. I couldn’t help it! I grabbed 2 bags each of the round and square ones. I then headed over to the Christmas area to look for trims to go around them. I’ll have to glue the hanger string between them when I put them together. They aren’t already assembled like my mother’s were, but I don’t care. I didn’t find a trim that I liked, but it is still early in the holiday preparedness period. I will watch over the next few weeks between now and Thanksgiving and hopefully I’ll find a braided, beaded trim that I like to go around the edges of the mirrors. I am tempted to go back and get 2 more of each shape. *sigh*
