Today is one of those days where you have a ton of stuff to get done, but you have ZERO motivation or desire to do any of it. You know you have to, but it doesn’t make it fun to get started. Fortunately, once you get started you can just keep going. It is just the whole getting started aspects. . .
I thought for a minute. . . Thinking back to a previous post about getting things done. I should feel accomplished at the end of the day. Doing 3 things every day and being happy with that. It is a good way to look at things on those days where you just can’t seem to get moving no matter how hard you try.
Well let’s reflect on today. It is only 11:30am and I have:
- Woke up and stayed awake!
- Made sure the kids were dressed in clean clothes, got themselves breakfast, had their backpacks and lunch money, and sent them out the door to the bus stop.
- Talked to my brother via Gmail Chat for about an hour. It is hard to believe he’ll be home in less than 60 days!!!
- Restarted the dishwasher. It had one of those cycles where not everything got clean. It is almost like one of the kids opened the dishwasher before it was done again. Oh well, it is easy to reload what was removed and rerun it.
- Sent an email to a friend. *waving* Hi, Katie!
- Emptied the dryer, put the clothes from the washer into the dryer, then reloaded the washer.
- Fed Lance breakfast. Ate breakfast myself.
- Filled Lance a milk cup.
- Started 2 DVDs for Lance. We’ve watched Mickey Mouse (2x) and Bob the Builder (we’re watching the 2nd time now).
- Read up on the forums about The Grocery Game.
- Folded about 2/3 of the laundry. I ran out of hangers and decided it was time to take a break. I still have a ton of socks and underwear to sort and fold.
- Changed Lance’s dirty pull-up. I will be glad when potty training is more active and less of a fluke thing that happens.
- Stopped my bloody nose.
- Responded to a Phi Theta Kappa email from our chapter president about officer training this weekend.
- Taped back together my Bissel Stick Vac. It fell over and hit the floor one too many times and cracked the canister right where the notch is for holding the canister on. I wanted duct tape. I believe in improvising. I found some yellow electrical tape. That should work temporarily. I wonder if I can get another canister for it. The vac works just fine, just the canister won’t stay on.
- Restarted the dryer. The slip cover for the couch is in there and it didn’t dry all the way the first time around. It never does.
- Filled a Kool-Aid cup for Lance.
- I am now blogging!
The day is still young. Looking at that list, I should feel accomplished for the next 6 days! Wow! Unfortunately, I know it won’t happen that way. When you start looking at the little things, you start to see that even those days where you “think” you’re being lazy, you are still accomplishing something.
I need to figure out what we’re going to have for dinner. I need to get the motivation up to run back to Best Buy and return some stuff that DH bought. Then I need to run to Wal-mart or Target and get one of those things at a cheaper price IF I can. It isn’t anything spectacular, just every little bit counts. I need to study for my exam so that I can take it tomorrow.
Oh I forgot to mention, the Art Institute called me again on Monday when I was in the grocery store. I didn’t hear the phone ring, but I heard the voice mail beep. Too much back ground noise and whatnot. It didn’t help that I still had the volume turned down from church on Sunday. I am sure they’ll call again.
